Washington, DC, January 3, 2023—"Companies including investment giant Vanguard Group, workplace technology company Paycom Software Inc. and others have sent directives to employees in recent weeks, urging workers to follow existing hybrid schedules or to come into the office on additional days in 2023, according to internal memos viewed by The Wall Street Journal and interviews with employees. In some cases, bosses have told those who fail to comply that they could face termination within weeks.”

New-Home Sales Rose 5.8% in November

Washington, DC, December 23, 2022—Sales of new single-family houses in November 2022 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 640,000, according to estimates released jointly by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, 5.8% above the revised October rate of 605,000 but 15.3% below the November 2021 estimate of 756,000.

Washington, DC, December 23, 2022—New orders for manufactured durable goods in November, down following three consecutive monthly increases, decreased $5.8 billion or 2.1% to $270.6 billion, the U.S. Census Bureau announced. This followed a 0.7% October increase.
