Shaw Floors Featured in Idea Houses

Evanston, IL and Charleston, SC, July 26, 2006--Shaw has been busy across the nation bringing the latest trends in flooring to idea homes for leading national publications including Cottage Living and Southern Living. Thousands of guests are expected to view the homes, providing real life impressions of Shaw flooring in today’s design-savvy market. Cottage Living’s idea home is in Evanston, Illinois, a quiet suburb of northern Chicago. The true cottage style home is built to recreate “an old new house” says the magazine. Deep red brick, natural colored shingles, dark wood accents and quaint flower boxes lead into an equally rich interior with all flooring provided by Shaw. Ceramic tile is used in the bathrooms, and Shaw’s Artisan Craft wood flooring in the Log Cabin style is found throughout the living space alongside sisal-inspired carpet from Sutton’s Simply Sisal collection in an earth-toned Prairie Olive shade. Designers chose natural-toned area rugs from Shaw Living’s Kathy Ireland Jardin Du Jour Collection in Bamboo Grasses and Maui Chocolate Wave Dark Brown to enhance the warm, cottage-like feel of the home. Proceeds from the tour’s admission will be donated to Kids and School Supplies of Evanston. Guests can view the home from July 13 until September 3. True to Southern tradition, oversized wraparound porches, large black shutters, white columns, a dramatic stairway and a welcoming red door lead into Southern Living’s idea house in Charleston, S.C. Located in the Daniel Island community, this charming home boasts the first-ever idea garden. And like the bright gardens, Shaw carpets in the colors and styles of Couture Calabria in Risotto, Tuftex Movento in Crème, Centrali in Sparkle Green and Couture Santina in Chocolate Brown are used throughout the home. A portion of the proceeds from the Southern Living Idea House will benefit Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital Fund. Guests can view the home from June 17 to October 8. “An extension of Shaw’s ‘I want a floor…’ national advertising campaign, these idea houses allow the consumer to see and touch Shaw flooring while imagining the possibilities for her own home. The idea homes will plant the Shaw name in the consumer’s mind, encouraging her to research Shaw floors and visit her local dealer,” Kathy Young, creative director for Shaw Industries, says. “I’m also pleased that the proceeds from the home tours will go to good causes. It makes the idea home project that much more worthwhile.” The magazines are also offering virtual tours online or publishing pictures of the homes in upcoming issues.
