Washington, DC, November 17, 2022-The American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) Architecture Billings Index (ABI) score for October was 47.7, the first decline in billings since January 2021 (any score below 50 indicates a decline in firm billings).
Total Construction Starts Rose 8% in October, Driven by Nonbuilding
Hamilton, NJ, November 17, 2022 — Total construction starts rose 8% in October to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.12 trillion, according to Dodge Construction Network. In October, nonresidential building starts gained 9%, and nonbuilding starts rose 26%; however, residential starts fell by 3%.
Housing Starts Declined 4.2% in October
Washington, DC, November 17, 2022-Privately-owned housing starts in October were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,425,000, 4.2% below the revised September estimate of 1,488,000 and 8.8% below the October 2021 rate of 1,563,000, according to the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
