CarpetMax Canada Changes Name

Manchester, NH , Jan. 3--Following a unanimous decision endorsed by members of CarpetMax Canada, the floorcovering association has officially changed its name to Flooring Canada.

J.C. Penney Sales On Track

New York, Jan. 6-- J.C. Penney expects to meet its January sales goals at stores open a least a year. The firm had expected flat to slightly increased sales.

Consumer Confidence Drops

New York, NY, Dec. 31--Consumer confidence declined in December, largely because of the discouraging employment outlook, according to the Consumer Confidence Board.

Manufacturing Activity Grows

New York, NY, Jan. 2--Manufacturing activity expanded strongly in December, the first growth in four months, but it is unclear if that momentum can be sustained, according to the Institiute for Supply Management.

Color Tile to Expand

Kennesaw, GA, Dec. 27--CarpetsPlus plans to expand its recently acquired Color Tile brand to 450 stores by the end of 2003.

Armstrong Projects Sales and Earnings

Lancaster, PA, Dec. 27--Armstrong World Industries, according to government filings, projected that its net sales will grow to $4.17 billion in 2007, following its projected emergence from Chapter 11 on July 1, 2003.

Existing Home Sales Slow

Washington, DC, Dec. 27--The market for existing single family home sales slipped from near record levels in November but are on track for a record year, according to the National Association of Realtors.
