Sears Earnings Below Expectations

Hoffman Estates, IL, July 22—Sears reported quarterly profit that was well below Wall Street expectations because of poor spring clothing sales, and forecast weaker-than-expected full-year results.

Sherwin-Williams 2Q Earnings Up 14.8%

Cleveland, OH, July 22—Paintmaker, retailer Sherwin-Williams in its second quarter reported income increase of 14.8 percent, to $126.4 million. Diluted earnings per common share were $.87 per share compared to $.75 per share in 2003.

Home Builder D.R. Horton Profits Rise

Arlington, TX, July 21-- D.R. Horton, Inc., the number one U.S. home builder, reported that net income for the quarter ended June 30, 2004 increased 62% to $251.3 million or $1.06 per diluted share.

Honeywell’s 2Q Earnings Up 13%

Morris Township, NJ, July 21 – Honeywell today announced second quarter earnings per share of $0.42, an increase of $0.05 or 14% over the prior year.

Mohawk 2Q Earnings Up 16%

Calhoun, GA, July 21--Mohawk Industries, Inc. today announced record diluted earnings per share (EPS) and net earnings for the second quarter of 2004 of $1.29 (15% above last year) and $87,158,000 (16% above last year), respectively.

Linens 'n Things 2Q Earnings Drop

Clifton, NJ, July 21--Home decor retailer Linens 'n Things Inc. said its quarterly profit fell, matching its lowered forecast, after it drew fewer-than-expected shoppers in May.
