Revised 4Q GDP Up 3.8%
Washington, DC, February 25--The economy in the fourth quarter grew at an annual rate of 3.8 percent, according to a report from the Commerce Department. The growth was stronger than the 3.1 percent from the estimate a month ago.
Existing-Home Sales Off 0.1% January
Washington, DC, February 25--Existing-home sales, revised with improved methodology, were essentially flat in January but remained at historically high levels, according to the National Association of Realtors.
J.C. Penney Posts 4Q Profit
Plano, TX, February 24--J.C. Penney in the fourth quarter posted earnings that were up 30 percent to $333 million, or $1.17 a share. In the fourth quarter of 2003 the company reported a loss of $1.07 billion, or $3.42 a share.
January Durable Orders Off 0.9%
Washington, DC, Orders for durable goods dropped 0.9 percent, according to the Commerce Department. Excluding a 5.3 percent drop in orders for transportation goods, new orders actually increased by 0.8 percent.
