Carpet Liquidators Donates $60K to Search Dog Organizations
Seattle, WA, October 20, 2023—Supporting the work and missions of local search dogs, handlers and supporting personnel, Seattle-based carpet and flooring retailer Carpet Liquidators is donating more than $60,000 to Northwest Disaster Search Dogs (Pierce County) and Cascadia Search Dogs (based in Snohomish County).
Existing Home Sales Declined 2.0% in September
Washington, DC, October 19, 2023—Total existing-home waned 2.0% from August to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 3.96 million in September, according to the National Association of Realtors. Year-over-year, sales dropped 15.4% (down from 4.68 million in September 2022).
Ceramic Tile Imports Declined 9.9% in First Eight Months of 2023

Washington, DC, October 19, 2023—In the week ending October 14, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 198,000, a decrease of 13,000 from the previous week's revised level, according to the Department of Labor.
Housing Starts Rose 7% in September
Washington, DC, October 18, 2023—Privately-owned housing starts in September were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,358,000, the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development jointly announced, 7.0% above the revised August estimate of 1,269,000 but 7.2% below the September 2022 rate of 1,463,000.
AIA Billings Index Declined to 44.8 in September
