Workers Vote to Strike at AHF's WV Hardwood Plant; AHF Responds

Elkins, WV, February 24, 2020-On February 23, workers at AHF’s Elkins, West Virginia plant voted to reject the company’s proposed contract renewal terms and strike, according to The Inter-Mountain. In total, “…93% of the AHF Products hardwood plant’s employees voted against the proposed contract renewal offered by the company and all are now on strike.

Brian Carson, CEO of AHF says, “We are open for business and operating the plant as usual to service our customers.

“AHF Products has been bargaining in good faith with Teamsters Local 175 to achieve a new contract that is fair to our employees, our customers and the company, and allows us to remain competitive in our very competitive industry. We don’t want a strike. A strike is not in the best interest of anyone involved, especially our hardworking employees, their families or the Beverly community.

“AHF Products remains focused on coming to agreement on a contract that works for our employees, our customers and our company. We are ready to return to the bargaining table as soon as the union is willing to join us to work towards a new agreement without any preconditions.”
