Wood Flooring Associations Combine Under NWFA

St. Louis, MO, Dec. 18, 2008--The National Wood Flooring Association and NOFMA, the Wood Flooring Manufacturers Association, have consolidated.

The formal agreement was signed at a Manufacturer’s Assembly held in St. Louis at NWFA Headquarters on Dec. 16.  The two organizations now function jointly under the National Wood Flooring Association name.

More than 50 manufacturer representatives were in attendance at the meeting to witness the announcement.  NWFA Chairman Ken Schumacher, and NOFMA President Bob Haggard, were on hand to sign the agreement.

“This is an historic occasion,” stated Ed Korczak, NWFA CEO.  “NOFMA brings more than 100 years of experience to the NWFA and has a solid reputation within the wood flooring industry.  We welcome their contributions and expertise.”

The NOFMA grading standards will remain intact and now will be monitored by the NWFA.  “NOFMA’s staff will continue to conduct plant inspections as they always have, but will now do so as NWFA employees,” states Korczak.  “NOFMA developed these standards and has done an outstanding job maintaining them, so we want to present continuity for those manufacturers that have come to rely on these standards in their grading processes.”
