Woman in Sustainability Leadership Award Winners Announced
Chicago, IL, October 7, 2016—The 15 winners of the Women in Sustainability Leadership Awards (WSLA) were announced just prior to the annual Greenbuild Expo held this week in Los Angeles.
The 2016 WSLA Winners making a positive impact on our environment include: Lisa Bate of B+H Architects, Liz York of the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, Mary Tod Winchester of Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Kelly Vlahakis-Hanks of Earth Friendly Products, Nicole Isle of Glumac, Holley Henderson of H2 Ecodesign, Susan King of Harley Ellis Devereaux, Kathleen Smith of International Living Future Institute, Barbara Deutsch of Landscape Architecture Foundation, Nancy Sutley of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Karen Kubick of San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, Barbra Batshalom of Sustainable Performance Institute, Andrea Goertz of Telus, Carolyn Aguilar Dubose of Universidad Iberoamericana, and Dominique Hargreaves of United States Green Building Council Los Angeles.
The ultimate goal of the awards is to create a global central hub that identifies and connects the most powerful women at the forefront of sustainability. WSLA looks to recognize and advance these top-level female sustainability executives who can then, in turn, support younger women with dreams of reaching such levels of success.
This is the third annual WSLA awards which is hosted by gb&d magazine in partnership with the United States Green Building Council in part by MetroFlor Corporation, Steelcase, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, and United Airlines. The winners were hand selected by a judging panel that includes Rochelle Routman of MetroFlor (and the chair of the WSLA Alumni Group), Kimberly Lewis of the USBGC, Amanda Sturgeon of the International Living Future Institute, Angela Foster-Rice of United Airlines, Leith Sharp of Harvard University, and Chris Howe and Laura Heidenreich of gb&d. The fifteen influential winners were honored prior to this year’s Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Los Angeles on October 4th at the SLS Beverly Hills.
