NWFA Provides Flooring for 85th Home with Gary Sinise Foundation

St. Louis, MO, March 6, 2026-The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) has completed its 85th home in partnership with the Gary Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E. program (Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment), which builds mortgage-free, specially adapted smart homes for severely wounded veterans and first responders.

The most recent home was dedicated on November 19, 2025, for retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Joe Bowser in Ashland City, Tennessee. Flooring for the project was donated by NWFA member Mullican Flooring.

Bowser reenlisted in the Army Reserves following the events of September 11, 2001, after previously completing an honorable term of service. While deployed in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom, he was severely injured when two rockets exploded behind him, resulting in the loss of his right leg.

Following the injury, Bowser underwent 14 surgeries but continued serving through 2021 as staff assistant to the Secretary of the Army, advising on wounded veteran issues.

“His new home will be an enduring reminder of our gratitude for his service to our country,” said NWFA president and CEO Stephanie Owen. “We’re honored to partner with Mullican Flooring to provide beautiful real wood floors for his new home.”
