NWFA Announces 2005 Wood Floor of the Year Winners

St. Louis, MO, April 21--The National Wood Flooring Association announced the winners of its 2005 Wood Floor of the Year Contest during its Annual Convention in Honolulu, Hawaii, April 13 – 16. Wood Floor of the Year awards for 2005 are as follows: Best Kitchen/Dining Room: Johnson Yarema Hardwood Floors ~ Oakland, Michigan Best Living room/Family Room: Fulford Flooring ~ Wilson, North Carolina Best Library/Office: Birger Juell Ltd. ~ Chicago, Illinois Best Bedroom: Majestic Wood Floors, Inc. ~ Frederick, MD Best Entry/Foyer: Signature Floors, Inc. ~ Salt Lake City, Utah Best Commercial: Johnson Yarema Hardwood Floors ~ Oakland, Michigan Best Restoration: Universal Floors, Inc. ~ Washington, DC The Wood Floor of the Year awards were developed to encourage and recognize innovative craftsmanship and design in wood flooring installations. Since the program began in 1990, 135 awards have been presented to NWFA member companies throughout the United States and Canada, as well as in Russia and Finland. This year’s Wood Floor of the Year Contest yielded 134 entries from seven countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, Singapore, Malaysia, and Norway. All entries in the competition featured flooring installations completed between February 2004 and January 2005. Winning entries were judged by NWFA members via on-line voting during March 2005, as well as on-site voting during convention. Seven awards were presented during an awards luncheon held on Saturday, April 16.
