European Firms Imported 6.7M Meters of Wood

Paris, France, March 10, 2011 -- European hardwood flooring firms imported a total volume of 6,713,531 square meters of wood flooring last year, according to the European Federation of Parquet Importers.

The federation said the number represents a slight increase over 2009.

In particular, imports of engineered floors amounted to 6,155,524 square meters, well ahead of solid imports of 558,007 square meters.

Engineered products still represent 92% of the federation's business, while solid wood flooring count for 8% of the import market.

The group said the outlook for imports remains positive.
