DomotexAsia/ChinaFloor Attendance Up
Shanghai, China, April 27, 2006--DomotexAsia/ChinaFloor 2006 was able to chalk up several new records at the end of its Shanghai run from 28 to 30 March, with organizers reporting double-digit growth rates for Asia's biggest floor coverings show. A total of 32,424 professionals attended for the latest information on new products and trends (compared with 25,300 in 2005--a 28 % increase). The interest from overseas also increased significantly. The number of foreign visitors was 4,315 (+34.8% growth compared to 2005) from 83 countries from all 5 continents. The main growth came from Australia and North America. Taken together with the fact that 36% of all visitors attended the show as major decision makers for their companies, it's easy to see why over 60% of all visitors placed or will place orders during or after the fair and 90% of all visitors said they would be back for the 2007 edition. The number of exhibitors grew by 41% to reach a new total of 833 (2005: 588). And the show also registered an increase in the amount of display space sold, reaching a new high of 73,000 square meters of gross display space (2005: 46,000 m2--a 58 % increase). According to the exhibitor questionnaires, over 89% of all exhibitors stated their participation objectives had been met with over 90% further adding that they would be back again next year. This year's event saw a big jump in the range of laminated coverings, solid wood and engineered floors: whereas in 2005 two halls were enough to cover the demand, this time the organizers needed three and a half. The range of exhibits at Domotexasia/Chinafloor also included textile and resilient floor coverings, rugs and carpets, equipment and techniques for floor covering installation and floor care as well as machines for the production of floor coverings. The interest from visitors matched very well with the presented categories. A majority of the visitors (17,461) were interested in wood and laminated flooring. The interest for carpets was with 11,042 persons in second place. Various conferences and satellite events were held in conjunction with the exhibition. Design week Shanghai, the premier designers event, attracted over 500 designers and architects to the show. The annual China national forest products industry association flooring committee council also took place successfully during the show, which further proved the status of DomotexAsia/Chinafloor as an important industry platform. Sports arena--the special display area for sports flooring-- provided an ideal meeting place for the constructors of the 2008 Olympic Games and the leading suppliers in sports flooring. The dates of the 9th edition will be March 29-31, 2007 in Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
