HMTX Holds Event Supporting Addiction Crisis Charity

Norwalk, CT, September 30, 2019-HMTX Industries hosted an event on September 26 at Harbor Lights in Norwalk, Connecticut, to support the Halstead/Metroflor Addiction Crisis Team (HMAC) and honor Harlan Stone, president and group CEO of HMTX, for his philanthropic efforts.

The event raised $90,000 through sponsorships, a silent auction and a “paddle raise,” to support nonprofit rehabilitation organizations, offering support to addicts and their families. The evening’s tax-deductible net proceeds will help fund 501-C3 tax exempt organization(s), to fund the scholarships at the following rehabilitation and education facilities: The Blanchard Institute, Charlotte, North Carolina; Damascus Road Recovery, Covington, Georgia; Genesis Ministries, Kennesaw, Georgia; Hope House Ministries, Port Jefferson, New York; Thomas’ Hope, West Babylon, New York; and Davis Direct Foundation, Marietta, Georgia. 

The event, with the theme of “The Path to Resilience,” included talks from Linda Ventura, who lost her son, Thomas, to addiction, driving her to devote her life through Thomas’ Hope Foundation to helping others avoid the same fate, and Michael Chiappone, a recovering addict representing Hope House Ministries, along with a brief speech from Stone himself. In attendance were a range of sponsors, including Advanced Computer Technologies, DLA Piper, Thomson Research Associates, Dull & Phelps, NRS, Goldenblock Eiseman Assor Bell & Peskoe LLC, Realized Solutions and Citrin Cooperman. 

The evening included a silent auction, aiming to raise at least $75,000, with the total to be matched by Harlan Stone, and the auction easily surpassed its goal. The event is part of HMAC’s mission to raise $500,000 over the next two years, to be matched by Stone for a total of $1 million, to fund a range of rehabilitation and education facilities, including: Hope House Ministries in Port Jefferson, New York; Genesis Ministries in Kennesaw, Georgia; The Blanchard Institute in Charlotte, North Carolina; Damascus Road Recovery in Covington, Georgia; David Direct Foundation and The Zone in Marietta, Georgia; and Thomas’ Hope Foundation in West Babylon, New York.
