Washington, DC, September 21, 2023-In the week ending September 16, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 201,000, a decrease of 20,000 from the previous week's revised level, according to the Department of Labor.

Shaw Industries to Close West Coast “Tuftex” Carpet Mill

Total Construction Starts Rose 6% in August on Commercial Increase

Hamilton, NJ, September 20, 2023-Total construction starts rose 6% in August to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.3 trillion, according to Dodge Construction Network. Nonresidential starts rose 40% thanks to a large pickup in manufacturing and transportation buildings. Residential and nonbuilding starts fell 1% and 14%, respectively.
