St. Louis, MO, May 10--May Department Stores, which has agreed to be acquired by Federated Department Stores, reported earnings of $41 million, or $0.13 per share, versus $76 million, or $0.24 per share, in the same period a year earlier.

Wholesale Inventories Up 0.4%

Washington, DC, May 9—Wholesale inventories increased 0.4% in March as wholesales grew by 0.2% during the month, according to the Commerce Department.
