Solutia’s Sales Up 14% in 3Q
St. Louis, Mo, November 9--Bankrupt chemical maker Solutia Inc. said in a regulatory filing Friday that price increases, higher sales volumes and favorable currency-exchange rates drove up third-quarter net sales by 14 percent.
Foamex Reports 3Q Loss
Linwood, PA, November 5--Foamex in the third quarter reported a net loss of $114.5 million, or $4.68 per diluted share, compared with a net loss of $11.0 million, or $0.45 per diluted share, in the third quarter of 2003.
Federated's October Same-Store Sales up 4%
Cincinnati, OH, November 4--Federated Department Stores, reported total sales of $1.098 billion for the four weeks ended October 30, 2004, an increase in total sales of 3.8 percent compared to total sales of $1.057 billion in the same period last year.
Hovnanian Cuts Earnings Forecast for 2004

Construction Spending Flat in September
Washington, DC, November 1--Spending on new construction was virtually flat in September, as the first decrease in housing construction outlays since early 2003 offset a slight gain in non-residential building activity.
