Atlanta, GA, December 2--As the largest dedicated space in the Sands Expo Center, the Wools of New Zealand area makes a tremendous fashion statement with 38 Brand partners exhibiting the industry’s most innovative carpets and rugs utilizing the latest wool yarn developments and technologies.
At the center of it all is Wools of New Zealand booth #6418, a place filled with activity and information that supports its Brand Partners while making retailers more profitable.
This year, Wools of New Zealand will be colored in "green" as it promotes the environmental advantages of wool. As the world’s largest exporter of wool for carpets, New Zealand woolgrowers hold a position of environmental responsibility that it takes seriously.
The benefits of their efforts, along with the natural attributes of wool, are part of an environmental story Wools of New Zealand is telling at Surfaces 2005. Wool’s advantages as a renewable, biodegradable and sustainable fiber will be touted on green-colored shopping bags and a new environmental brochure will be made available to retailers. In addition, Wools of New Zealand is covering its booth floor in green-colored carpet from Brand partner, Louis de Poortere.
One of Wools of New Zealand’s biggest events is its annual Fashion Dynamics competition, held to promote the creativity of its partners. Retailers are invited to vote for Best Overall Product and Best Color Line, with participants receiving a collectible toy sheep—in green. Awards will be presented to the winning mill partners on the final day of the show.
Wools of New Zealand will also showcase its latest technical developments. New manufacturing advances include Zeacrimp—a new fiber developed for use in wool blends—and Lanashield—a new stainblocking treatment that enhances wool’s natural stain resistant properties. Information on these, and many other fiber and technology advances, will be showcased at the Wools of New Zealand booth.
