Wilsonart Continues Downsizing, Expects Slow '09

Temple, TX, Nov. 18, 2008--Wilsonart International said it will begin offering employees early opt-outs.

Wilsonart officials say the company has made significant cuts in its manufacturing, distribution, selling and marketing expenses, but they’re seeing a decrease in business that they expect to last through next year.

They plan to reduce the level of full-time employees by first asking employees to voluntarily opt out.

Wilsonart makes laminate countertops and flooring, and employs about 1,300 people in Bell County, Texas.

The parent company, Illinois Tool Works, announced in August that the company was up for sale.
