Williams-Sonoma 2Q Earnings Up 12%

San Francisco, August 23—-Retailer Williams-Sonoma reported second-quarter net earnings that rose 12% to $30.8 million, or $0.26 a share, from $27.6 million, or $0.23, a year ago. Earnings matched analysts' average estimate, according to Thomson First Call. Revenue for the period ended July 31 increased 13% to $776.2 million from $689.6 million in last year's second quarter, while same-store sales, or sales from stores open at least a year, advanced 3.7%. Analysts were looking for $783 million in revenue. Williams-Sonoma, which also operates Pottery Barn and Hold Everything stores, affirmed its third-quarter and fiscal-year earnings targets at $0.29 to $0.31 a share and $1.84 to $1.88 a share, respectively. Analysts' estimates stand at $0.30 for the third quarter and $1.88 for the full year.
