Federal Way, WA, June 21, 2006--Weyerhaeuser said it would reduce greenhouse gas emissions 40 percent by 2020 by running the boilers at its facilities on more biomass fuels and less fossil fuels.
The company said its pulp and paper mills already get 72 percent of their energy from biomass; that percentage will rise under the new plan. The biomass fuels that the company uses come primarily from tree bark and other organic products.
