Weather Depresses Chain Store Sales

New York, NY, May 4, 2011 -- Chain-store sales fell by 0.8% for the week ending April 30 compared with the prior week, according to the International Council of Shopping Center and Goldman Sachs.

Sales affected by tornadoes across six states and other bad weather, which curbed the consumers’ ability to shop in some regions while rising gasoline prices affected the consumers’ ability to spend.
