Välinge To Produced Beveled Edge on Laminate

Viken, Sweden, Dec. 15, 2008--Välinge has ordered the first full size machine to produce a beveled edge on a laminate flooring using the new “Solid Edge” technology developed by Välinge Innovation Belgium.

The new machine is built by Wemhöner and could reach a forming speed of 200 meters per minute.

The solid edge technology allows that a bevel, with the same structure, properties and design as the laminated flooring surface, could be produced after a standard pressing operation and in line with the machining of the locking system.

The new technology is based on heat and mechanical deformation of the surface layer and the core. No milling, paint or tape is required to create a perfect bevel with a solid laminated surface.

The new technology has been patented by Välinge Innovation Sweden and further developed by Välinge Innovation Belgium. Several patent applications are pending.

The Solid Edge machine will be installed at the new Välinge R&D center in Viken and Välinge licensees will be able to test the new technology.
