Välinge Launches New 5G+ Due to Akzent Dispute

Viken, Sweden, September 24, 2007—The European Patent office has sided with Akzenta in a patent dispute with Valinge over a locking floor system but the decision may be appealed and could take several years to resolve.

As a result, Välinge has decided to launch its new 5G+ technology, which Valinge said is different to any previous 5G versions. The aim is to keep the Väinge licensees outside potential legal disputes by offering a new and advanced system earlier than initially planned.

The new 5G + system was developed one year ago and patent applications were filed in 2006. The launch was initially planned to take place in January 2008.

The new 5G+ system has been developed such that is compatible with the present 5G systems on the market. It offers several advantages over the present 5G systems related to production cost, installation function and locking strength. Present production equipment to fix a separate tongue to a panel edge could be used with minor modifications.

All new license contracts will be based on the new 5G+ technology.
