Vancouver, BC, February 18--According to the Vancouver Province, Tsering Luding, a carpet installer, won the Lotto Super 7 draw and will be collecting $24.6 million.
Luding, a 39-year-old Richmond carpet technician is the son of Tibetan parents who came to Canada from India.
The newspaper said that Luding was shopping at a 7-Eleven and instead of asking for change he asked the clerk to give him lottery tickets.
He was quoted as saying "I don't play numbers and I only buy tickets once in awhile." Luding, who phoned in sick yesterday, plans to tell all before his boss finds out why he booked the day off.
He sais, "To be honest, I forgot I even had it." When Luding's wife discovered that no one had claimed the monster prize, she asked him to search his wallet.
"I read her the numbers and she started shaking," he said. "Then I read them again and again to be sure. I really didn't believe it until I showed up at the office to claim the prize."
Luding is B.C.'s biggest lottery winner ever.
