Valinge Steps Up Investment in Powder Technology

Viken, Sweden, Nov. 16, 2010 -- Välinge said it will install advanced ball mill equipment by next April to produce nano particles and ink for digital printing of laminate flooring.

The company said it has digital printing technology that provides high definition prints in powder-based surfaces. It said it is possible to create designs in a powder-based surface, which are superior to the print quality generally used in conventional high quality laminate floors.

The new nano particles and digital powder ink that will be produced by the new ball mill equipment were developed and adapted to the powder used in the surface layer.

Välinge said it believes that the new powder based floors will replace conventional paper based laminate floors in the same way as DPL replaced HPL.

The new investment will increase Välinge's capacity to develop new and more advanced nano particles and ink and to deliver such particles to its licensees to be used in their production.
