Valinge Has Good Year Winning U.S. Patents

Viken, Sweden, Dec. 9, 2010 --  Välinge said that its number of U.S. patents increased from 38 to 59 this year.

Overall, Välinge has 730 patents worldwide. Välinge expects that the total number of patents, based on present applications, will grow to about 2,000 patents in a few years and that about 200 new U.S. patents will be granted.

“We have received more patents in the U.S. during 2010 than during the last 10 years," said CEO Darko Pervan.

"This is a result of our increased R&D resources. Our new 17,000 square meter R&D centre and our R&D team of 60 employees give us the possibility to lead the development in several technology fields related to floorings.”

“The examination of our pending applications indicates that it will be possible to get more than 10,000 patents worldwide. We must of course make priorities in order to limit the application costs. U.S., Europe and Asia are on the top of the list as well as patents related to our fold down technology and surface technology. We will probably limit the number of patents to about 2,000 and this should be sufficient to protect the most vital parts of our new technologies,” says Ola Engstrand, Välinge patent manager.
