Vahan Pedian of Chicagoland's Pedian Rug Company Dies

Chicago, IL, January 4, 2017—Vahan Pedian, partner in Chicago-based Pedian Rug Company, died December 23, 2016. He was 90 years old.

Vahan, his father and brothers operated Pedian Rug Company—still in existence today—for 97 years, and Pedian is remembered for his knowledge of the flooring business, his enthusiasm for the business and his ingenuity. According to his obituary, “A self-taught computer programmer, Vahan introduced the flagship industry programming for inventory management and custom invoicing.”

Pedian is survived by his wife of 68 years, two daughters, his brothers/partners and a host of other loved ones.

As a young man, Vahan served in the United States Navy as a signalman aboard the U.S.S. Terror during World War II.
