Sandy City, UT, June 9, 2006--Last year, Kody Sorenson, a Big Bob’s Flooring Outlet dealer found himself in trouble with the local government, when they demanded that he take down the 10 American flags that flew over his store in Sandy, Utah for several years. Sorensen was prosecuted by the local government for not getting a license to fly more than one.
It now seems that the Sandy City Council has reversed itself and it now saying that the law was badly written, because it prohibited flying more than one American flag. The council now has decided to create a new law that would prohibit flying more than one flag without permission.
Kody Sorensen and his Big Bob's flags, which have remained in the air throughout this whole incident, however will be exempt from the proposed law, because they were up and flying before the law was passed.
Sorensen says the case has helped a group of veterans in their own fight against the city. He said ,”I thinks the whole case case has opened the door for these guys to do what we need to do, fly the American flag and be proud of being a veteran and being an American."
Sorensen says people have come from as far away as Winnemucca, Nevada to show support for his patriotism.
