USGBC Leadership Awards Nominations Open

Washington, DC, July 29--The prestigious USGBC Leadership Awards honors outstanding individuals and organizations that are advancing green building. The Leadership Awards will be given in six categories, which correspond with USGBC's strategic plan goal areas for achieving its mission: Advocacy - This award recognizes an individual or organization that has made a significant contribution to advancing green building in the public sector. LEED - This award recognizes an individual or organization that has advanced the use of LEED standards through organizational policies, practices or technology. Education - This award recognizes an individual or organization making a significant contribution through education or training that advances green building. Research - This award recognizes an individual or organization making a significant contribution through research that advances green building. Community - This award recognizes an individual or organization making a significant contribution to enlarging and making more diverse and inclusive the community of practitioners and supporters advancing green building. Organizational Excellence - This award will honor an individual or organization who has demonstrated a sustained commitment to the USGBC through active leadership and participation in the development and advancement of the Council's mission and purpose. The awards will be presented to the recipients on Thursday, November 10, 2005 in Atlanta, GA at USGBC's Annual Conference & Exposition, Greenbuild. USGBC is excited to announce that the awards ceremony will take place at the Tabernacle in downtown Atlanta. The Tabernacle is a renovated Baptist Church that has been transformed into a unique event venue. If you have an individual or organization to nominate, be sure to do it today - nominations close on Thursday, September 1, 2005. Any USGBC member may submit a nomination.
