USGBC Delays LEED 2012 Until Next Year
Washington, DC, June 5, 2012 -- The U.S. Green Building Council said it will delay ballot on LEED 2012 until June 1, 2013.
The delay is in response to feedback from members, core LEED users and engaged stakeholders, USGBC said.
Because of the change LEED 2012 is being renamed LEED v4.
USGBC said that as it has gone through the public comment process, it has heard repeatedly stakeholders need more time to to absorb the changes and get their businesses ready to take the next step.
"Most importantly, they want more visibility into the infrastructural improvements we’ve promised with the LEED 2012 program — forms, documentation, education and LEED Online – to inform their internal adoption strategies," said CEO Rick Fedrizzi.
USGBC said it is also committing to a fifth public comment on Oct. 2-Dec. 10.
USGBC said it certifies more than 1.6 million square feet of space every day.
