USGBC Award Nominations Open
Washington, DC, September 5, 2006--The U.S. Green Building Council Leadership Awards are given annually to recognize outstanding work to advance green building. If you know an individual and/or organization who deserves special appreciation for their leadership, vision, and commitment to green building, we encourage you to nominate them for this prestigious award. The call for nominations will be open from September 1 – September 30. Nominees may be either individuals or organizations, and must be USGBC members. Any USGBC member may submit a nomination. Award recipients will be announced at the Leadership Awards Celebration on Thursday, November 16 during Greenbuild 2006 in Denver, Colorado. Awards will be given in six categories corresponding to USGBC’s strategic plan goal areas for advancing its mission: Advocacy--This award recognizes an individual or organization making a significant contribution to advancing green building in the public sector or in their community. LEED--This award recognizes an individual or organization that has advanced the use of LEED (TM) standards through roganizational policies, practices or technology. Education--This award recognizes an individual or organization making a significant contribution through education or training that advances green building. Research--This award recognizes an individual or organization making a significant contribution through research that advances green building. Community--This award recognizes an individual or organization making a significant contribution to enlarging and making more diverse and inclusive the community of practitioners and supporters advancing green building. Organizational Excellence--This award will honor an individual who has demonstrated a sustained commitment to the USGBC through active leadership and participation in the development and advancement of the Council's mission and purpose.
