U.S. Retail Sales Rise 0.6% in June

Washington, D.C., July 17, 2025-U.S. retail and food services sales reached $720.1 billion in June 2025, according to advance estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau. That’s a 0.6% increase from May 2025 and a 3.9% gain compared to June 2024.

Sales for the second quarter (April through June 2025) rose 4.1% year over year. The month-over-month change from April to May 2025 remained unchanged at -0.9%.

Retail trade sales were up 0.6% from the previous month and increased 3.5% from June 2024. Nonstore retailers saw a 4.5% year-over-year gain, while food services and drinking places posted a strong 6.6% increase from the same time last year.
