US Floors Beginning Expansion in Georgia
Dalton, GA, Nov. 25, 2008--U.S. Floors is beginning an $11 million expansion in Dalton that will add at least 15 new jobs next year, according to a story in the Dalton Daily citizen.
“It’s exciting on the one hand, but on the other hand, with the current economic climate, I think there are going to be very few companies in the area that are willing to spend the money and grow their business,” said CEO Piet Dossche.
The company, which makes bamboo and cork flooring, currently employs about 85 and has been in business since 2001.
The local Joint Development Authority voted Monday to issue $6 million in industrial bonds to help finance the first phase of the expansion.
The bonds should be issued by the end of the year. The authority plans another $2 million bond next year for the second phase of the expansion.
“Our people live here. We are employing people here, and we didn’t want to move anywhere else,” said Dossche.
