U.S. and Germany Top Importers of Persian Carpets

London, England, August 13, 2007--The U.S and Germany have ranked first and second, respectively ,among importers of Persian carpets in the past six years, the managing director of the International Trade Fair of Iran said.

Hamid Ghavam Shahidi said that the two countries have been followed by Italy, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Japan, Canada and France respectively in terms of importing the Persian carpet, according to IranMania.

Sales have grown, he said, by promoting appropriate culture, recognizing different tastes, meeting the needs of markets and establishing proper infrastructures to produce carpets for exports. 

The 16th exhibition of handwoven carpets will be held in Tehran August 23-29.
