U.S. Adds 372,000 Jobs in June

Washington, DC, July 8, 2022-U.S. employers added 372,000 jobs in June, mirroring strong monthly gains logged earlier in the year, according to the U.S. Labor Department.

Companies across all industries save for government added an average of nearly 400,000 workers over the previous three months, keeping the job market on solid footing, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports.

"The unemployment rate last month, at 3.6%, was a touch above the half-century low reached before the pandemic hit in early 2020," WSJ states. "The jobless rate has held at that level for four consecutive months, a sign the labor market is still tight but is loosening slightly. ...  Jobless claims, a proxy for layoffs, have ticked up in recent months but remain historically low."
