Universal Flooring Hosts Team Building Regatta

Huntington Beach, CA, June 30, 2008 – During a Southern California heat wave, a total of eight 31-foot sail boats hoisted their anchors and set sail in the first Universal Flooring Team Building Regatta.

Boats were manned by experienced skippers with a crew of three interior designers from local area design studios and architectural firms.  From an afternoon of team building and camaraderie, the results were bragging rights for the winning crews and $8,000 for the Orangewood Children's Foundation.

For the first time, local commercial contractor Universal Flooring treated local designers, general contractors, developers and flooring manufacturers to a fun-filled afternoon in Newport Beach at the Orange Coast College School of Sailing & Seamanship.

Participants manned the decks and cheered on the eight teams of regatta racers.  The event was crafted as a creative way for Universal to develop relationships with its business resources by providing a team building event to foster camaraderie.

The fundraising aspect grew from Universal's own mentality of supporting its community. 

Proceeds from the regatta resulted in an $8,000 donation to the Orangewood Children's Foundation, which supports the on-going needs of the foster care system by developing a wide range of activities, scholarships, support and programs for children in Orange County.

Winning teams were:

1st Place: Sailing Team - Gensler Team 1 Wagering/Donors - Howard Building Corp. (Orange County office) and Shaw Contract.

2nd Place: Sailing Team - Interior Architects Wagering/Donors - Casco Construction and /The New Patrcraft & Designweave Mills

3rd Place:Sailing Team - HKS Architects
Wagering/Donors - Caliber Construction and /Bentley Prince Street Mills
