Unilin’s Flooring Industries Ltd. Granted European

Wielsbeke, Belgium, April 20, 2006--The European Patent Office on the 19th of April 2006, granted to Flooring Industries Ltd., European patent EP 1 290 291. This patent specifically protects glueless laminate flooring panels provided with a bevel covered with a transfer foil. Patents protecting this invention have already been granted in 30 countries, including the US. Unilin Flooring B.V.B.A., the manufacturer of Quick-Step, was the first to market a laminate flooring with such a coated bevel. The product was first shown to the public in January 2001 at the Domotex fair in Hannover, Germany. The grant of this patent and the success of the bevelled edge products bolsters the company’s claim to a leading position as an industry innovator. Flooring Industries ltd is the intellectual property holding of the Unilin group.
