Unilin to Start Work on $80M Plant

Thomasville, NC, June 18--Unilin Flooring, the maker of Quick-Step laminate flooring, is set to begin work on its $80 million manufacturing plant in Thomasville. According to the Triad Business Journal, Unilin will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at 10:30 a.m. this morning. The ceremony will be held at the new plant's site near the corner of Cloninger and Old Raleigh roads. The 600,000-square-foot manufacturing plant, which will supply Unilin's North American market, should be finished by next spring and is expected to employ 330 people. Thomasville won the project over competition from Guilford County, Montgomery County and Lancaster, S.C. Unilin is expected to receive an incentives package totaling nearly $12 million total from the state, Davidson County and the city of Thomasville.
