Unilin To Build Laminate Plant in Russia

Moscow, Russia, May 28, 2008--The Belgian laminate-flooring manufacturer Unilin Flooring is planning to build a manufacturing plant in Russia.

In a first stage, the company intends to install a short-cycle press and a profiling line. At the same time, a treater may also be set up, but a decision on this has not yet been made. An investment in the company's own MDF/HDF plant is not planned for the initial phase.

At least during the starting period, HDF supplies for the plant are to be guaranteed through purchases from Russian suppliers or through imports. In the recent past, Unilin Flooring has been concentrating its investments mainly on the further expansion of the laminate-flooring works in Thomasville, N.C., where another treater and a short-cycle press were put in operation over last few months.
