Unilin Sues Rona Store for Patent Infringement
Toronto, Ontario, June 12, 2007--Unilin has filed suit against Rona Switzer Building Centre (Orillia, Ontario) for patent infringement. The suit, which was filed by Unilin on June 6, accuses Rona Switzer of infringement of 4 of its Canadian patents by the sale of unlicensed glueless laminate flooring products: Canadian patents 2,226,286, 2,475,076, 2,522,321 and 2,522,085.
In January 2007, Unilin already obtained a favourable ruling by the United States International Trade Commission which issued a General Exclusion Order against non-Unilin-licensed infringing goods after a 9 day trial on 3 equivalent US patents. This action is a further step in Unilin’s enforcement program to clear the market from non-Unilin licensed glueless flooring.
