Unilin Obtains Canadian Patent

Wielsbeke, Belgium, December 23-–On the 2nd of November 2004, the Canadian Patent Office granted Unilin the Canadian patent CA 2226286. The patent protects a wide range of glue free joints, including the well-known Uniclic system. These kinds of glueless installation systems are now utilized in many types of floating floors. In 1996, Unilin was the first to market a glue free system for joining flooring panels, with the clic-system being milled out of the core material. Today, these types of glue free joining systems are featured on the majority of products in the market. Unilin is determined to enforce the patent against any infringement in Canada. Previously, Unilin gained a strong reputation by enforcing its patents in Europe and in the U.S.
