Unilin and Mohawk Brands Get NALFA Certification

Dallas, TX, September 11, 2007--Unilin has received certification from the North American Laminate Flooring Association (NALFA) for its Quick•Step and Columbia Flooring branded flooring.

Mohawk laminate flooring, a separate brand under the corporate umbrella of Unilin’s parent company Mohawk Industries, has also garnered the prestigious designation.

In achieving NALFA certification, Quick•Step, Columbia and Mohawk flooring each passed a rigorous and demanding series of tests designed to evaluate performance, durability, strength and overall quality. The NALFA Seal is an assurance to consumers that products will withstand even the most punishing conditions as well as everyday use, including resistance to staining, moisture, fading, impact and normal wear.

“NALFA certification adds greater credibility and is an essential endorsement for our flooring,” said Roger Farabee, vice president of marketing for Unilin and Mohawk Industries. “It underscores every statement we make about our performance and quality, keeps us accountable to the public and provides one more valuable distinction between our flooring and a competitor’s.”

Laminate flooring sales are increasing annually and forecasted to rise 6-8% by 2009, according to NALFA. The organization, whose membership comprises U.S. and Canadian laminate manufacturers and importers, created the certification program in 2000 to set and uphold quality standards for the industry.

Quick•Step, Columbia and Mohawk laminate flooring will begin featuring the NALFA Seal on packaging, websites, trade advertising and promotional materials before the end of 2007, said Farabee. He also noted that as the brands continually add to their product lines, all new designs will be submitted for NALFA testing.
