Uniboard's NC Plant Gets CARB 2 Certification

Laval, Quebec, Canada, Oct. 7, 2010--Pfleiderer subsidiary Uniboard said that its Moncure, North Carolina medium density fiberboard manufacturing facility has been certified by the Composite Panel Association to meet California Air Resources Board (CARB) Phase 2 emissions standards.

"With the certification of our Moncure MDF mill, all of Uniboard's North American operations are now in compliance with CARB Phase 2 standards," said Lise Plante, product manager for Uniboard.

"This certification gives us the competitive advantage in the industry and communicates to our customers that Uniboard is constantly innovating production processes to meet their needs while setting the standard in sustainability and design."

The announcement that CARB Phase 2 compliant MDF panels can now be produced at Uniboard's Moncure MDF mill comes prior to the official industry enforcement of the new standards, which take effect on January 1.

Panels produced at the Moncure MDF mill are made using 100% pre-consumer recycled and recovered wood fiber, which saves trees and avoids landfill. The Moncure MDF mill is EPP certified (Environmentally Preferred Product) by the Composite Panel Association.
