Unemployment Claims Rise Last Week

Washington, DC, July 31, 2014 -- Initial jobless claims jumped last week after falling to a 14-year low the week before.

Initial claims for unemployment benefits rose by 23,000 to 302,000 in the week ended July 26.

Nevertheless, last week's level of initial claims is still near a postrecession low.
