UK's United Carpets Sees Sales, Income Drop

London, England, Dec. 16, 2010 -- Mexborough-based United Carpets Group said sales and income declined amid a "very challenging trading environment."

But the company said it turned in a solid performance and is looking to expand the business.

For the six-month period ending Sept. 30, revenue fell by 5% and income before tax decreased by 14%.

Paul Eyre, chief executive of United Carpets, said: "This was a solid performance in a very challenging trading environment. Consumers remain cautious over spending, following uncertainty in the job market and the lack of any clear signs of economic recovery."
