U.K.'s United Carpets Has Annual Profits Rise

South Yorkshire, England, July 28, 2008--United Carpets, the UK's third largest carpet and floorcovering retail chain, saw its sales and profits rise for the year ending March 31.

The figures show a revenue increase of 8.3 percent to £21.17m from £19.55m in 2007. Year-over-year sales were up 9.1 percent.

And, despite the downturn in the housing market and consumer confidence, the company has said that sales have continued to grow in the same way with sales for the 16 weeks following year end showing a 7.8 percent rise.
