UK Ceramic Maker Forms Installation Company

Bridgnorth England, July 24, 2006--A Shropshire tile manufacturer has created a new company in response to increasing demand for project work across the country, according to the Shropshire Star. Peter Howells, Craven Dunnill's group managing director, launched Craven Dunnill Project Ceramics Limited to meet the increasing national demand for the installation of ceramic tiles in new developments such as leisure complexes, shopping precincts and public buildings. Contracts already completed by Craven Dunnill include the Bishop’s Castle Municipal Swimming Pool, the Central Station Shopping Mall in Liverpool, and the Ster Century Plaza in Cardiff. The new business is to be serviced from the company’s facilities at Stourbridge Road, Bridgnorth, with a sales office in Solihull, and is headed up by directors Paul and Nigel Starkey. This continued expansion of the Craven Dunnill Group follows the opening of its new public showroom and the acquisition of Ironbridge-based Craven Dunnill Jackfield. Craven Dunnill, founded in 1872, is a leading and award-winning tile distributor which prides itself on its excellent supplier relationships, extensive warehousing and its own fleet of delivery vehicles. The business has focused on selling tiles for the home up until now, and operates in the contract sector. Howells said he is now keen to expand further the contract and specification side of the business. He added: “We have an excellent distribution center here at Bridgnorth, and it is more than capable of handling the growth in orders we anticipate from the new company.” The product portfolio of Craven Dunnill Project Ceramics is intended to be diverse and high quality. Its products will include tiles for walls and floors in all materials including porcelain, steel and glass, anti-slip flooring, mosaic tesserae, advanced stone and ancillaries such as adhesives. Craven Dunnill Project Ceramics will also supply tiles and technical expertise for restoration projects, in association with its sister company Craven Dunnill Jackfield. Craven Dunnill Jackfield, based within the historic Jackfield Tile Museum in Ironbridge Gorge, manufactures period-style tiles, wherever possible using original machinery, glaze recipes and hand decoration.
