Turkish Carpet Maker Planning Big Export Boost

Istanbul, Turkey, Oct. 11, 2010--Merinos Hali, the second biggest carpet manufacturer in the world, will increase its exports to $100 million by the end of 2010, according to the online World Bulletin.

Mahmut Erdemlioglu, a member of the Executive Board of Merinos Hali, said annual sales increased by 35-40% in 2010 when compared to sales in 2009.

"We made an additional investment worth of 20 million euro for our carpet factory in Russia. We have a great market in this country. We export our products to 65 countries," he said.

Erdemlioglu said that annual exports last year were $70 million.

"We are going to manufacture carpets and thread in China. Construction of the factory will begin in 2012," he added.
